Brian and I met in late December of 2007. For one of our very first dates that January, he told me he had a surprise for me, picked me up with no indication of where we were going, drove me to the airport, flew us first class to Philly, and took me out to a romantic dinner on the water in Wilmington. We even got to go up into the control tower and watch planes land at the airport! Quite the first impression!
A couple of weeks later, Brian invited me up to New York for an event at his school called Yearling Winter Weekend. We stayed in a hotel right in Times Square with another couple and explored the city together, and I attended my first ball at West Point. It was a lot of fun, and also a bit awkward because we didn't know each other that well!
Because Brian was away at school in New York, we had to do a lot of our 'getting to know each other' over the phone, which was difficult at times. We took things slow, and finally got to spend a lot more time in person while Brian was home on leave that summer. Brian asked me to be his girlfriend on July 2nd, 2008.
Since then, I've attended numerous other events at WP, and we've gotten to know each other better every day; we've traveled together, leaned on each other through tough times, grown together, and built the kind of relationship I had always hoped to be in. We are always striving to make our relationship better and continue the cycle of kindness and love we started almost two years ago. Most importantly, he is the person I can be my goofy self with, and we just have fun together.
Brian and I love traveling and new adventures, and we have had a lot of amazing experiences together! Our first trip together was a weekend on the Connecticut coast, and we got to tour the factory where they make Black Hawk helicopters! For Spring Break in 2009, we took a road trip to Florida and visited Daytona Beach, saw a space shuttle launch, and spent a couple of amazing days on the beach in Sarasota.
After spending a month apart while Brian trained with the British Army last summer, we reunited in London...
and also got to travel to Paris!
We also got to ring in 2010 in Key West, Florida, which is easily one of the best vacations I have ever been on.
Because Brian goes to school in New York, we have also done our fair share of exploring around New York City.
While we may not get as much time together as we would like, we make the best of the time we do have! Even though we face a lot of uncertainty in the upcoming months as Brian prepares to graduate, I have honestly never been happier and can't wait to see where this adventure takes us together!
