This past weekend, Brian and I traveled up to the mountains of Ellijay, Georgia, also known as the home of the Georgia Apple Festival, to spend the weekend with new friends. Six couples made the five hour trip north to a gorgeous cabin overlooking the river for lots of relaxing, exploring, and quality time together.
After hiking down to see the Amicalola Falls, we learned that going back up over 400 stairs is definitely the "strenuous" task the signs at the top had warned us about. The view of the falls at the bottom was worth it, though!
Other highlights of the trip included the most glorious nap I've ever had laying in the sunshine on the riverbank behind the cabin, a trip to R & A Orchards for homemade fried pies, cider and jam, and all the boys waking up early on Sunday to make breakfast for their wives (so sweet).
I can't believe it was only a month and a half ago I wrote this post. While I miss my friends and family in Maryland more than I can say, finding a group of friends here has certainly made Savannah feel more like home.
