In the two weeks between when Brian proposed and he left to go to Arizona, we did our best to nail down a date and some basic plans for our wedding. It was super important to both of us that he be fully involved in the planning process, even if he isn't going to be home for the majority of the time that it is taking place. I mean, it is his wedding too! This basically means that we do research online together, and then he takes charge of making phone calls and setting up appointments while I watch him and make funny faces on Skype. :)
So, without further ado...Brian and I are getting married on May 28th, 2011!

I am happy to say that the ceremony and reception venues are already booked, and that they were both mine and Brian's top picks! We will be having the ceremony outdoors at this beautiful lighthouse on the water.
It is in a town that Brian and I love, about 15 minutes away from where we live, and a place we have gone on some special dates (including our one year anniversary). The lighthouse is also where we took some of our engagement pictures (and I hope to have the disc to share more of them soon)! It is so cool that we will be getting married there, as well. The ceremony is going to be officiated by Brian's long-time pastor, who we also met with for premarital counseling prior to getting engaged (what can I say? we are big planners...). We're really looking forward to working with him to create a ceremony that truly reflects us as a couple.
After the ceremony, we will dance the night away at the beautiful Residents' Club of a nearby golf course. It was the only reception venue Brian and I looked at, and we put the deposit down right on the spot. We fell in love. I can only imagine what it will look like decorated for our big day!

While Brian was home, we also picked a caterer who we are super excited about! On his next trip home over Labor Day, we have a couple of cake tastings scheduled and hope to nail down a DJ, as well. Everything about our wedding day has just kind of come together effortlessly, and we couldn't be happier with the decisions we've made so far. I keep joking that everyone says wedding planning is so stressful, but we've just had a ball! This has been such a special time for us as a couple, even though we are far apart. I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
So, to summarize:
Beautiful ceremony site: check!
Gooorgeous reception venue: check!
Yummy food: check!
Someone to pronounce us man and wife: check!
We are on a roll. :)
I'm going to end this edition of Wedding Wednesday with a question for the married ladies out there. What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

We seriously need some dress updates!! OK, so I could say posing with family for photos, or walking down the aisle was the most memorable thing, but honestly, the first thing that popped into my mind was taking off together for our honeymoon as husband & wife after the reception!! All the fuss and ceremony was over and we were free to be just us and do our thing!
aww yay! How exciting! I was in a similar boat as you are. My husband and I were apart, he in Texas and I in NY, for 7 out of the 10 months engaged! That's a tough question: probably our first dance and then dancing with our friends and family no cares in the world!
Can I just say that I love Wedding Wednesday already!?
I'm one of those people though who will watch many episodes of Say Yes to the Dress in a row and just loves everything weddings.
I'm so glad you guys are having so much fun with it, that is the way it's suppose to be!
can't wait to read more!
Wow, you are totally on top of things! And that is awesome that both of you are involved in everything. I'm so excited to hear more about your planning. And as someone mentioned above, you have to share dress updates/pictures.
Omg I love May 28th as a date and LOVE your venue!! GORGEOUS. I am so jealous of that lighthouse - perfect spot for pictures! Yayayayyaya for getting married!
I'm so happy for you two, congrats on selecting the date, and the ceremony/reception site. They both look gorgeous - especially the ceremony site with the lighthouse right there. You're going to have a beautiful wedding Lauren! Can't wait to read more of your Wedding Wednesday posts :)
I'd have to say our first dance. Perfect song, perfect man, perfect dance for me. Our first time dancing as husband and wife. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the wedding, even though there were hundreds of people there it felt like just us and no one in the world mattered.
And then when we had people up in our hotel room after, that was memorable and fun too. It was Jonny's idea because he knew how much I loved hanging out with friends and how much I was going to miss them when I moved away. Justin told me later when he invited him to come hang Justin was of course like nah dude it's your wedding night and Jonny said something like it's ok, we love spending time with people and I have the rest of my life to spend with her but you guys aren't going to get to see her as often because we'll be leaving... something like that, I'm sure I butchered it... but I always thought it was really cool.
Your venues are gorgeous!!
Okay, can’t answer that last question for you but had to butt in and say I cannot be more thrilled for you. Your day is going to be so beautiful for the both of you!!!! Beautiful location for both ceremony and reception!!!!

It all looks perfect!! To match the two of you.
I haven't been keepin up with blogs lately. Yay for engaged! the most memorable part wasn't a moment but the floating on air feeling all day that has nothing to do with the details and everything to do with forming your own little family unit. I love being his mrs.
Go Lauren! You are really on top of things :) The sites look beautiful! I can't wait to see the bridesmaids dresses and every thing else you decide on :)
Congrats... Can't wait to see how the blog revs up... or slows down! All the best!
