Brian and I have spent the majority of our relationship apart. A lot of times, we catch up on each other's days in hushed voices just before bed, as if that could suffice for the huge chunk of our lives that the other is missing out on. For the most part, I carry on as I did before, with just the normal dull ache of missing my best friend. We say our "I miss you"s and "I love you"s and we count down the days until we can see each other again.
I know that in the coming months and years, these small separations will seem silly.
This is not the worst of it.
But the thing that makes it all worth it is this feeling as I lie in bed tonight, too giddy and excited to sleep. Knowing in just a few short hours, he'll wrap his arms around me and, for a couple of days, all will be as it should be.
As hard as the "goodbyes" are, the "hellos" are a million times sweeter.

I know how hard it can be to do the long distance thing girl...hang in there and it will see like so long ago when you guys are together more permanently ;)
Long distance can definitely have it's bad days! My boys visiting this weekend and I 100% agree that 'hello's' are much sweeter!!

My husband and I had a long distance relationship when we first started dating. and it was really tough some times but now that I look back those were some of the best memories for me. Getting to see him after not seeing him for months was the best feeling in the world. Love your blog!
