A couple of weeks ago, I decided that I. have. had. it. I don't know if it's something I just began to notice or if the warmer weather is causing all of the animals to shed their winter coats, but there is HAIR EVERYWHERE. I couldn't take it anymore! I was so tired of sitting down on my couch and later going to leave and realizing I had a layer of hair over my entire body. A lint roller can only work so much magic! I had to do something! I closed my bedroom door, vacuumed the floors, washed all of my sheets, and vowed to never let those animals in my personal space again.
All was well for a couple of weeks....until I woke up in the middle of the night, choking on 80 degree air and covered in sweat. Keeping my bedroom door left something to be desired as far as air circulation goes. So, I brainstormed ideas and headed to Target to pick up a baby gate. Sure, it is a bit inconvenient to have to practically leap into my bedroom in a manner much like running the hurdles in track, but sometimes we have to make these uncomfortable sacrifices in the name of being able to wear black again.
When I set up the gate, I was so proud of myself. Problem solved! Until, of course, the dog started sitting at my bedroom door and whimpering night after night. After a while, she got mad and started barking and growling at that gate. Sure, it broke my heart. But I was determined. I ignored poor Riley the best I could.
Soon, the cats got involved. They were obviously broken up about the lack of carpet space elsewhere in the house to sleep on. At times, several of the animals would gather around the gate and make their disapproval known. I began to wonder if they were scheming ways to overcome the barrier.
And then, one night, as I was sitting around watching TV and enjoying my hair-free zone...this happened.
Looks like it's back to the drawing board for me.

Lol that's too funny - your cats are smart ones ;-)
Atleast you tried! I wish I had a solution for you but Snuggles sheds as well so therefore I keep a lint roller in the bathroom AND in my car lol.
If you find answer, let me know :-)
Cute furbabies by the way!
Maybe invest in a fan? That way you can have air circulation AND a hair-free space??
BTW. Thanks for the laugh! :)
oh no!!!! Gosh, I hear you about the hair. Especially CAT hair. At my Mom's place it's everywhere. Forget wearing black pants! I hope you find a new solution that works :)
MY CAT IS HILARIOUS. HAHAHAHAHA
awwww they just dont want to be away from you. haha.
maybe you need a fly screen door for your room? haha :)
xx
hahaha.. I have SO many issues with Gracie dog's hair so I couldnt imagine having MORE of her. She's adorable but yeah.. I vacuum the wood floors/baseboards/my room @ least twice a week. Aside from that, I have "Gracie blankets" and/or towels that I put down on my bed when I'm gone so she gets hair on the blankets/towels but not on my bed. I do the same thing with the sofa during heavy shedding season. Then, I just remove them when I get home from work. Yeah, sure she sheds on em while I'm there, but it definitely decreases a lot. Also, get one of those mitts you put on your hand like a glove. It works magic to get hair off things better than a lint brush.
Have you tried any of those anti shedding treatments groomers offer? I havent. Im scared b/c it seems unnatural or something to prevent my dog from shedding. haha. I'm weird. I know this.
Ha ha yup there's no getting around hair with pets! No black clothes for me with our 2 lil westies:-)
How funny! Well, points for trying that's for sure! I don't have pets but black is pretty much out for how much I shed! LOL
Oh my goodness that is TOO cute!
Love your blog Lauren...your one of the many bloggers who has inspired me to start one of my own
Keep up the greatness!!
What a smart kitty... maybe you should put sticky tape on the top of the gate. Then when kitty tries to jump and his/her paws stick, he/she won't do it again!
I have decided it's a lost cause at our house. My golden retriever alone sheds massive amounts.
So we just keep lint rollers everywhere, and are s
sure to have them in our cars.
Love the pets, hate the hair!
haha, i liked this post very much!
Ohhhh my cats would have been over there in a flash!
I sleep with my door closed and my window open because I refuse to have my eighteen thousand animals in my room too!!
Hmmmm... I could use that baby gate though so send it on over! lol...
Cats are soooooooo sneaky, haha. Too cute! My sister's dalmatian is absolutely adorable, but his hair is EVERYWHERE in her apartment. I came home covered in it. I can't totally understand. Well, I hope the gate at least keeps the dog out. Have a good week!
When I saw the gate, my first thought was "I'm sure her cats can jump over that!" Sure enough! My parents had those for our dog, growing up, and I tried to borrow them for our kitchen doorway, but leave it to our house to have uneven doorways, so the rubber mounts on the bottom don't even touch the wall when the top mounts can't spread any further. Back to the drawing board for us too!
haha! I love that picture of the cat!
tagged u in a lil meme on my blog lauren :)
xx
Haha! Your cat was not going to let you get away with that! I had an extra dog this weekend, and she was a shedder! Crazy time!
