First Football Weekend Recap

On Saturday, I woke up and left the hotel bright and early to meet B at WP and go to my first Army Football game of the season! I actually only made it to one game last season, and it literally poured the entire time; this weekend, we had absolutely perfect weather for football!

The game was a lot of fun, and Army won! After the game, we went to a huge tailgate with B's friends and classmates and enjoyed lots of free food and beer. The tailgate had representatives from each branch of the Army with tables set up to provide info to the cadets (they have to pick their branches really soon!), so we also got a bunch of free trinkets. I love free stuff :)

I think it was around then that B and I started to realize how sunburnt we were. It was ridiculous! It was sunny and beautiful outside, but I hadn't even considered that I should put on sunscreen...it was breezy and cool in the morning! But, by the afternoon, it was really hot. So for the rest of the weekend, I was rockin' a cute sunburn in the shape of my sunglasses. It was awesome. Being outside in the sun all day had really drained us, so we went out to dinner and took it easy in the hotel for the night.

On Sunday, we slept in pretty late and had a lazy day. We did a little bit of homework and just hung out and enjoyed each other's company. Before we had to take B back to school, we scouted out a shady location by Round Pond, rolled down the windows of my truck, and listened to the Ravens game (Thank God for satellite radio!) It was so nerve wracking, but they pulled out a win! After the game, it was, sadly, time for me to head home.

The day after B leaves or I come home from seeing him is always hard. We've said before that it's kind of like an emotional hangover; the happy memories from the weekend are really fresh and it feels so sad and unnatural to be apart.

I don't really like complaining much, and when it comes down to it, I'm really lucky to have someone so amazing to miss at all. Plus, we are going to be seeing a lot of each other in the next couple of weeks! When I think about that, it seems so silly to be sad. Most of the time, being away from B is normal. I knew what I was signing up for when we first started dating, and I know he's worth it. But I'm not gonna lie; that doesn't mean that it doesn't totally suck sometimes. But, I just keep on looking at the bright side and looking forward to the next time we can be together.

Luckily, I have these other amazing people in my life who can flip my frown upside down. Today, I went and spent a bit of quality time with Joella and Kristi, because being with friends always makes the transition back to normal life a little bit easier. I'm so lucky to have such great ones...I don't know what I'd do without them. :)

Now I'm off to do homework, since I neglected it almost all weekend and then frolicked around some more today. Here's hoping this week goes by quickly and painlessly!

Mr. H and I dated long distance for over a year and a half... and then when I transferred to his school we would still be apart for the summer and holidays. To this day when we have to be apart for more than 2 days I get that sick sad feeling in my tummy when he/I has to leave. I know how you feel =0( and someday you will be together allll theee time!!
